As a Canadian, I am always excited when F1 comes to our backyard, even if Montreal is on the other side of the country. I’ve not gone to the GP before, but I once walked the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on a non-racing weekday. It was pretty amazing to walk that long straight before the Wall of Champions, and boy, did that take a long time. Yet, on our TV screen, that straight to turns 13 & 14 was done in seconds. And I think that sums up my feelings about the Canadian GP, fast with lots of nail-biter moments. In other words, I love the show my country puts on and hope to see it in person one day!
I think by now most people already know who are the front runners and who is most likely the winner. Barring some weather or mechanical-related issues, Mr.Max will most likely walk out with a trophy. With that said, this track seems to be more challenging for most drivers relative to our last race [Spain] per the dip in the GP trend, except Russell & Zhou seems to buck the trend.
Since we are in Canada, I figure this would be the perfect time to zoom in on the only Canadian driver on the grid. Mr.Stroll was on a bobsled heading down the hill for the past few race, but Canada might be the GP where he will climb back up. While the hometown GP is not favourable to him, he does have a fast car and a very encouraging teammate this season. In many ways, Stroll has all the external ingredients to fuel a successful F1 career, especially this season. The winds are right, but he needs to get himself in order to sail straight.
So, how do you think Stroll will do this race? Will he crack in his hometown? Or will he get a high five from Dad?
