Spring break is the most wonderful time in a student’s calendar year. You get the sun, the break, and the many pictures on your Instagram feed of F1 drivers hanging out in places normal people will never be able to go! And while it has only been a few weeks since the last race, spring break for F1 has been less than restful. Whether it is Max being less than pleased with his “industry”, the Ferrari shake-up, or the wish-it-was-true rumour of Alonso + Taylor Swift, spring break was not much of a break for the press.
So how are our new rookies feeling after the first 3 races of the semester?
While the McLaren has been less than competitive, it seems Oscar has been making it work for his maiden season… at least for the moment. We will see how whether he can consistently carry this momentum forward. While William is happy with Logan’s progress, I am sure his performance will be under the microscope compared to other rookies.
As for the other drivers, this relatively new circuit seems to be generally positive for everyone and probably a good re-entry point after their fun-in-the-sun spring break.
One wild horse for this weekend could be the impact of the new Sprint Shootout format. While there have been sprint races in the past, this new, updated version is meant to encourage drivers to push more. We will see how that will affect them and the cars.
