As we enter the British GP weekend, my newsfeed is flooded with off-track drama. While I am sure others will write more about them, I am just here with an excel sheet and some colourful numbers.
I know many have wondered why Hamilton always seems to be on top of the excel sheet. Let me reiterate this important point: I didn’t put him there. He is just a very good driver from a historical and statistical point of view. Just look at his stats for the British GP (Column N-P), and you can see why he is favoured by the numbers. With that said, we all know he is currently not in his top form with the fastest car, yet, his talent and proven experience provide him with the potential for success if all the stars align.
Now that we are 9 races in, who is trending upward? Who is not?
Bottas, Ocon, Russell, Lewis, Perez and Max are on a consistent and steady climb. I would add Yuki here too even though he took a tumble at the last race.
Zhou seems to look better in Canada also, if Alfa figures out their reliability issue, I think he could be on his way back up.
Surprisingly, Albon is not performing as well as it seems when we just look at the numbers. He started the season well and that may have sustained his positive image. Not to mention when compared to teammate Latifi, Albon looks like a superstar.
While Norris is not in the most consistent car, his pink line, especially when compare to Ricciardo (brown line under), tells us he has a lot of room to grow and peak when opportunities arise. I would love to see him drive alongside Russell at Merc in the future, I believe that would be the dream team of the next generation.

Zhou is really good despite the lack of points. He is in top 3 of total overtakes, has good reaction times based on 0-50kmph, his pit stop performance is quite decent. I'm quite surprised by how good he is performing for a rookie
